Perspective in nature and why it sucks
blackash:
I’m trying to answer some of Salacia’s questions. First a disclaimer, I am not the best when it comes to perspective. I may be/probably am wrong about most things, these are just my experiences. Please feel free to correct and add things.
Since there are no straight lines in nature it can be difficult to establish perspective. Things don’t lie on a flat plane, trees grow in any...
I just came about and noticed a post on here that I never made! The spam bots got me apparently, somehow. Hmm.
So anyway, I’ve changed a bunch of stuff, hopefully I’m good now. If you see any weird posts here (probably anything not art-related), don’t click them! D8 I should be okay though, but JIC.
And if you clicked the link please change your password and/or email. 8\

Understanding Perspective in Nature
Hey guys, I’m in need of some assistance! 8D
I’m trying to better understand perspective, and there are quite a few holes in my comprehension of the mechanics. Currently I’m looking for a tutorial that can explain and identify perspective in a natural environment. I need a guide that can:
Help me to identify what perspective an image is, concerning nature.
Show me how to...
Just to clarify:
The sketch of the girls in perspective is drawn by Ash, not me lmao. XD I was just extending the canvas a bit (added a stage top) to see what she thinks. :D
Thanks though, I’m sure she’ll see the comments and know how awesome she is at that stuff! :D

Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!
Thanks so much guys for chiming in on the leg thing! It seems there were 2-3 that seemed best out of all of them, so I’m going to work with those and see what I can get. :)
Extra thanks to Pie for that combination suggestion. I’ll keep that in mind also!
Super duper thanks to Chocopies for the photo ref of the pose (I need to buy a full-scale mirror), and the info! I knew about the...
Peti-Sala Collab WIP →
PETISU: I’ll be posting updates to the coloring to the link above, if you need it. :)
petisu reblogged this from salacia and added:
HI SALA! Thanks for starting to color! you can take down opacity of the lineart as well, your painting skill is amazing, my lines would be just a bother. You can fix my mistakes easily! I still want to do the background - do I work over this picture? ^^...
Here’s another, new WIP.
I started from scratch, for the… I don’t know how many times. Did a speed paint and it turned out alright, went on from there.
This is one of the things I owe for a certain someone. :)
If you have any hints to fix something or make anything look better let me know here or in the comments there. Thanks! :D
Blah-dee-blah, same ol’ same ol’. Busy, RL, and all that.
Here’s a WIP, one of the only things I’ve done concerning art lately.
I hope everyone’s doing well. I’ll be back to catch up soon.

Why I use Paint Tool SAI
blackash replied to your photo: Quick bday pres for Sora. :)
You make me want to try sai
I think you would be right at home with your style. There may not be that much to mess with in Sai, which I find to be the opposite of my experiences in PS (USE ALL THE FILTERS/BRUSHES/ADJUSTMENTS!), yet somehow I find the experience more enjoyable. It’s a little closer to painting traditionally,...
HOW YOU BLENDIN'?
cynthea said: How u changed the way you colour? O.O in that last post too.. its so smoooooooth <3
blackash said: I agree with Cynthea, I want to know too! :O
It’s hard to define, now that I’m trying to explain what I did differently lol.
I wanted skin to look realistic, and have “weight,” so I worked extra hard on soft blending using the watercolor tool in SAI. I...
Learning Color Theory Using Visual Illusions →
I know most of you don’t need this, but I still look at some of these images to study color and light. It has some great examples of color assimilation and many ways colors change based on surroundings. It’s really interesting trying to understand these things.
If this might interest you, or you know someone that it might, click the link and scroll down about 3/5 down the page for the...

Designing Clothes
lazura:
Srsly, i’m very bad at Clothes designing and drawing, as i’m sure you all know. Can anyone offer tips, tutorials or general advice for illustrating clothes?
Honestly you seem to be able to draw folds & direction fine, judging by that last piece, but here’s a tutorial I like that might interest you:
How to Draw Cloth - Great info. on folds and length.
