Salacia's Paintings

I’m working on improving my brushwork, which involves tweaking my custom brushes to be more painterly, efficient, and multi-purpose. 

I wanted a more organic feel to making textures and forms in Clip Studio Paint, with better control over my brushwork. Thus I’ve customized my brushes over the past couple years, and now I’m refining them and making better brush tips. A few still need adjustments, but they have made such a difference for me.

I plan to sell my core brush set when finished, which will include a guide for each brush, plus different ways you can use them. I might do the same for my skin and nature brush sets once they’re finished and refined, if I have the time. 

(As a note, I made these to achieve a better loose, painting/sculpting feel, so I don’t know how well they’ll pair with smooth, cell-shaded comic-style work.)

Anyhoo, I’ll post updates when I have them. 

I created a guide to Clip Studio Paint’s gradients for beginners if anyone is new to the program. It shows how I use them to enhance this illustration, and goes over the steps if you need help navigating the menus.

I also cover the workings of the “Contour Line Paint” tool, which was a mystery to me for the longest time.

I wanted to make a quick inky sketch to share, but instead I’ve been going down the rabbit hole of making ink/watercolor brushes in Clip Studio since mine aren’t what I need. It’s actually a lot of fun making brushes (although time consuming). I will post something with them soon! ( ‘ u ‘ )

Oh, I made another blog for my photo colorizations so I could keep this one to illustrations. Oddly enough I like to color photos to relax when I need a break from the challenges of art.

Don’t feel pressured to follow if you aren’t interested in hand-colored photographs, but if it’s something anyone is into I figured I’d share it here!

There was 80,000+ people there this year, and from what I’ve heard the tables are super expensive (vendors pay $1250-$1750 + membership I think, but unsure about artist alley) and you have a lot of competition just to get a table. I’ve read you get in based on people judging your work. I’m not sure though. Information about artists’ tables is pretty sparse. I don’t think I could make close to enough custom pins and things to sell there lol. You’d definitely need a friend or two to help you. That would be pretty cool though! :D
